Holy Week
It is the custom of unbelieving people and governments to accuse Jesus of deception. We sometimes wonder if these attacks on the Savior can get worse -and then we realize they can. Recently, in the Church of England, a pastor admitted in a book, that he doesn't believe in God. That's bad. But when he was removed from his position, the Church authorities received letters of protest from 65 of the pastor's colleagues who thought the officials had been intolerant.
Our spiritual walks with the Lord seem to be filled with stones placed there by so-called believers and unbelievers alike. Nevertheless, we are able to give thanks that Jesus has never deceived anyone; He only saves. What government or individual can say that they always have told the truth? Jesus can. When God says, "Whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life," we can accept those words as the absolute truth. It is God's truth that defeats death.
Prayerful Practice: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for telling me the truth of salvation. Let me reflect it to others. Amen.
A Contemporary Custom: We know that there are people who attack Jesus out of ignorance or deceit. Today, remember these attackers in your prayers. |
